Division 1E Round 3 Swinford v Lacken

Sean Kavanagh in the Swinford goals will never have a quieter sixty minutes of football as he did on Saturday evening against Lacken. In what was a truely one sided fixture saw Swinford win by 3-9 to 0-2. Only for some poor shooting by our forwards the scoreline could have been double that.

Inside a minute of the throw in Pearse Rowley had the ball in the Lacken goals and this was soon followed by a free from Kevin McDonagh and a point from James Lavin. Paul McDonagh playing at full forward extended the lead with his first of three points from play.

An unfortunate injury to Barry Brennan after thirteen minutes ended his day and Michael Walsh came in off the bench.  James Lavin got his second point to extend the lead to 1-4 to 0-0 before the corner forward for Lacken was sent for an early shower with his second yellow after sixteen minutes.

Two more points for Paul McDonagh including a fine score from outside the 40 brought the game to half time on a score of Swinford 1-6 Lacekn 0-0.

Management brought on Pearse Walsh on at the break for Gerry Callaghan. Some very poor shooting allowed the game to drag before Lacken got their first score of the game after twelve minutes. This sparked the team and we soon had three points added with score from James Lavin, Michael Walsh and Pearse Walsh.

Caoimghin McLoughlin entered the game for Paddy Ward and after a fine save from the Lacken goalkeeper and a scramble in the goalmouth he had the ball in the net. Michael Walsh soon added a third goal to finish our scoring for the day. The last score was a second point for Lacken.

Management will have learned very little from the game as we move on to two wins and an away trip to Ballina next Sunday.
