Match Preview – Mayo Senior League Division 1B – Swinford vs Tuar Mhic Éadaigh

Swinford’s Senior team make their first appearance of the season in Division 1B of the Mayo Senior League against Tourmakeady on Saturday evening.

This will be a big step up in class as Swinford had been operating out of Division 1C for the past two years. In many ways it is a new start for this team as they are operating under a new administration made up of team manager Paul Cunney and his selectors, Brian Galvin, Adrian Forkan and Paddy Cunney. They will be hoping to make a good start in this division as it is made up of very competitive senior and intermediate championship teams from around the county.

The team have been training very hard since the start of the year and have not played a lot of games to this point due to Mayo’s extended run in the Allianz National Football League. The Swinford team will be reliant on a number of core veterans like Paul McDonagh, Eoin Gallagher and Joe Kelly (Captain) to lead from the front and mixed in with this there will be a number of young guns like Darren Campbell and Mark McNicholas trying to make an impression in their first year on the senior panel.

Please try and get out to support your local team on what will be a hugely important weekend in the clubs history. All support will be greatly appreciated.
