SWINFORD GAA RESULTS WEEK 18TH APRIL 2022. WEEKLY REVIEW

The week started off on Monday evening when our U12 crew composed of two teams visited Foxford for two very competitive games. We came away with a win for the Group 1 team whilst the Group 3 team went down fighting.

The U14s & U16s both came up against strong opposition midweek and they both came out the wrong end in two competitive games but the progress in each squad is clear to see as we approach the summer and the new age grades.

Finally there was a good win in the Michael Walsh Junior Cup Quarter Final against a gutsy Moygownagh on Saturday evening. It was definitely a case of players taking their chances to impress in the absence of a number of the squad and take their chance they did. Shout outs to Ryan Lavin, Jonathan Giblin, Nathan McNicholas, Callum Cairns, Peter Noone and Michael Daly who made their competitive debuts for the team. Leading the way on the scoring was Liam Moran (1-05), Luke McNicholas (1-03), Callum Cairns 2pts with Jason McLoughlin, Barry Brennan, Mark Forkan, Nathan McNicholas and Jack Ferguson chipping in with a point each. A semi final now lies ahead.

SWINFORD GAA RESULTS WEEK 10TH APRIL 2022. WEEKLY REVIEW

Well done to our 3 teams who competed and came away with wins this week.

The week kicked off on Tuesday evening when the U16s picked up a good result against Charlestown. The management of Billy Mc ,Johnny Burke and Paul Cunney will now look to build on a great team performance by the lads. This was a great team effort by all players involved but the performances of Tommy Tuffy, Callum Forkan & David Taylor were key to the win.

Speaking of team performances our U14s were involved in a ding dong battle of a game on Thursday v Ballaghaderreen. All their recent hard work paid off with a brilliant result which was hard fought and fully deserved. Well done lads!

The week was capped off by another great result in the Centenary Cup on Sunday morning when our Adult Team beat Ballaghaderreen 4-10 to 2-08. The scores came from Luke McNicholas (2-01) Liam Moran (1-04) Johnny Burke (1-01) Jason McLoughlin (0-03) and Mark Forkan (1pt). At the back Paul McNicholas (Mr. Experience) put in a good shift and a special mention goes to Jack Ferguson who made his debut for the adult team. Jack has followed in the footsteps of recent debutants Dylan Toner, Alan Howie & Danny Molloy. Brian had a squad of 30 players to pick from this morning which is a really positive sign and reflects the strong start to the season the players & management have had, it was also great to see Eamonn Molloy come on board as manager of the Junior B side for the year ahead.

3 good results this week…on to next week!
