Annual General Meeting
The AGM of Swinford Club was held on Sunday 19th in Gateway Hotel. Message of sympathy was given to all club members hwo lost a loved one during the year and to Padraig Carney on the passing of his wife Moira.
There was a decent turnout to look back atΒ the year. Reports were given by the club secretary Katie Kelly and club treasurer Deirdre Dunleavy. There was a defict in the club accounts due to the high cost of the works done on securing Robert McCallion Memorial Park after a landslide in 2016. The weekly 50/50 draw is the backbone of the clubs finances and other avenues of fundraising are needed.
Shane Campbell gave the Chairmans address. Thanks was given to all who help out in the club from the club officers to all the coaches from Under 6 to senior level. There are great numbers at underage levels upto Under 16 and the Cul Camp was very well attended. The commitment of the coaches and players throughout the club has been excellent. Thanks were given to our Intermediate and Junior managment of Tom Byrne, Billy McNicholas, Tommy Feeney and Michael Lenehan. Our Intermediate Championship status was retained and our league season is not yet over. Thanks were given to two people retiring in the club, to Jimmy McDonagh who has been working for the past few years on the pitch and clubhouse and who finished up on Friday 17th. Also to Douglas Kelly who is stepping down as PRO after four years. Thanks also to Pat Durkan and Terry Maughan for all their work on the pitch and on match days.
The meeting then moved to election of officers.Β It was proposed that all club officers and executive be were relected and this was agreed to by the meeting. This included the departing PRO Douglas Kelly. If anyone is interested in a position within the club please contact a club officer.
The meeting then concluded.
