Match Preview – Mayo Intermediate Football Championship – Swinford Vs Kiltimagh

Swinford’s Senior team will start their Championship campaign for 2012 against their neighbours Kiltimagh on Saturday evening.

The game was scheduled to be played last weekend, but after the tragic death of Gary Price, all Swinford GAA club games were postponed out of respect for Gary and his family.

Swinford will be hoping to get off to a good start, in what is a very competitive group. Along with Kiltimagh, the group contains Parke and Ballyhaunis and it is fair to say that it will be a challenge for each team to progress to the quarter-finals.

Despite Swinford beating Kiltimagh in the league 0-10 to 0-07, Kiltimagh have been buoyed by players returning from injury and will feel confident of claiming victory. Swinford only have to look to last year’s Championship defeat to Kilmaine to remember the difference between league and championship form.

Swinford will be missing some players due to injury and travel but with a stronger squad than in recent years, they will feel confident that they can match Kiltimagh all the way, in what will be a pivotal game, this season, for both clubs.

Please try to get out to support your local team. All support will be greatly appreciated.
